I’ve spent my whole life learning empathy
And yet, now I am fully grown, I find
That there is a clear lack of empathy
In some of the jaded sections of mankind.
We just can’t stand hearing misogyny
So why not the same discomfort then
When terms like “useless”, “lesser” or “stupid”
Are stated, without jest, about ALL men?
There is no reason to judge a person
Just because of the colour of their skin.
So why should we apply the crimes long past
To others also lacking melanin?
Science has taught us that who we fancy
Is decided upon birth by our genes.
So can we agree I AM “Good As You”
Having a girl, not person, of my dreams?
And yes, I’ve heard all the arguments;
The point is not actu’lly lost on me:
Other traits have been vilified so long
That they need some understanding, you see?
Okay. Right. Yes, I do understand them
And accept any different from myself.
Just, there’s no sense in attacking YOUR ally
And reducing a “good guy”’s mental health.
So have some empathy for the “standard”
And see ‘historically strong’ can be frail.
Cos we either all rise up together,
Or sep’rately, as a species, we fail…
