Incubus Smile
Can you see my Incubus Smile?
If not, then sit with me a while…
I’ll tell the things you long to hear
In the hope that it draws you near.
I’ll take a look inside your soul
And voice back to you your heart’s goal.
I’ll unravel you at the seams
And pick apart your hopes and dreams.
I’ll corrupt your thoughts about love
And your heart, into darkness, shove.
I’ll feed upon your dreams of lust
And build in me a misplaced trust
Until the the day I’ve sucked you dry
And then, into the cold night, fly!
However…
If you see my Incubus Smile
And can detect my noxious bile
Then it matters not what I say;
You won’t believe it anyway.
Your soul will be free from my gaze
And through your walls I will not phase.
I’ll find not that loose end of thread
And not undo what’s in your head.
Your lovely thoughts I cannot touch
And you’ll think fond of love and such.
I’ll not see your lustful dreams
And you’ll suss out my lies and schemes
Thus I’ll deem you not worth my while
Cos you’ve seen my Incubus Smile.
