Ode To An Autumn Day
I venture out of threshold true
And am greeted by a cool breeze:
The sort of wind that damps you through,
But in it I find only ease.
The golden-brown leaves dance for me
And I smile along with pleasure.
One hundred dancers move with glee;
I can’t think of greater leisure.
Don’t get me wrong, I miss the Sun
But each does have its own place,
So since the Autumn has begun
I’ll find comfort in its embrace.
The wind howls and it speaks volumes
As it freely plays in the leaves.
It shakes the trees with golden plumes
As their bows give out groans and heaves.
I delight in the dance today,
I’m happy the Autumn has come,
But I know this will go away
When I start to find it humdrum.
I know the limits of my mind
So I will soon for granted take
This magical, one of a kind
Moment, when the cold I forsake.
