Ode To Hull KR
There is a team based East of the River,
A team that makes the Black & Whites shiver,
Home or Away they always deliver,
Like ancient Marksmen with well stocked quiver.
Voices rise up and spirits are high
As those Heroes is White & Scarlet fly
And the fans of FC can only cry
Because the Red, Red Robin bobbed on by.
Rovers that still play in historic home
Are destined to take King’s town for their own
And once they sit upon this city’s throne
They will rule forever, and rule alone.
These mountains of men play on all weather,
They cannot be bound by tool nor tether,
When FC say “Quit” Rovers say “Never”,
The Red, Red Robin will fly forever.
Long held rivalry has in past spilt blood,
A feud so fueled it shows up Bad from Good,
Though more peaceful now, it’s still understood,
Which team are Heroes, and which are a dud.
At Craven Park, so many seats to fill,
That fans that attend are in for a thrill,
The away fans shoot glances that could kill
Because they know the Robin flies on still.
Though, no amount of success is cost free
And even though losses are rare to see
It speaks of the players’ humility
That they swallow Humble Pie graciously.
Even if the other team score a try
Or Robin’s wings are clipped so cannot fly
It’s taken on the chin as by-the-by
Because the Red Robin will never die!
