The Problem With Being Romantic

The problem with being a romantic
Is that everywhere you see
Femininity's bountiful beauty
Keeps bouncing up at me.
The problem with being a romantic
Is that everywhere you go
There’s just a million distractions
From the thoughts you’re supposed to know.
The problem with being a romantic
Is that everything you do
Is side tracked by a lovely form
Passing amorously into view.
The problem with being a romantic
Is that everything you think
Soon turns to thoughts of revelry
And the delight of the Fleshy Pink.
The problem with being a romantic
Is that everyone you meet
Is either reward or competition
Flaring passion’s lustful heat.
The problem with being a romantic
Is that everyone you love
You do so with twisted affection
For the bits that stick out above.
The problem with being romantic
Is that every rhyme you perplex
Turns from a song about life’s wonder
Into a poem basically about sex!
